Friends Honor Elizabeth Hirsch
Born in 1911 in a town in rural Pennsylvania, Elizabeth moved to Oregon in 1941 with her husband and children. With her keen eye for beauty she created memorable and creative table settings, a colorful garden, tasteful paintings and sculptures and, with it all, marvelous conversation. She paid close attention to others, laughed with contagious delight at the human story, and kept the network of news alive with her keen memory. Known for her tireless support of a wide range of civic activities, Elizabeth served on many community boards. Whimsically, she was responsible for putting the red nose on the White Stag reindeer in Portland's Old Town, making “Rudolph” a historic landmark. Read her full biography. Back to Who is a Heroine? |
